What Is Invisalign® First?
Early Treatment, Designed for Growing Mouths.
Invisalign® First is the clear aligner system made specifically for kids ages 6–10 who still have a mix of baby and permanent teeth. It’s a form of early (Phase 1) orthodontic treatment, designed to guide a child’s growing jaw and create room for permanent teeth as they come in.
- Made for mixed teeth. Built to work with a mix of baby and adult teeth, and to accommodate new teeth as they erupt.
- Helps create room. Designed to address crowding, spacing, and narrow dental arches using gentle, gradual dental arch expansion.
- Clear, removable & BPA-free. Custom aligners your child takes out to eat and brush — no metal brackets or wires.
- Typically about 6–12 months. Length varies by case and by how consistently the aligners are worn (about 20–22 hours a day).
Why QuickSmiles for Kids
Built Around Your Family’s Schedule.
You want what’s best for your child’s smile — without rearranging your whole week to get it. Here’s what makes QuickSmiles different for families across Gilbert and the East Valley.
No Missing School or Work
Evening and Saturday appointments mean your child doesn’t miss class and you don’t take time off. We work around your family’s schedule, not the other way around.
Most Care Happens From Home
Our remote monitoring model means fewer trips to the office with a busy kid. Dr. Coles tracks your child’s progress between visits, so you can keep an eye on things from home.
Comfortable & Removable
Your child eats, brushes, and flosses normally — no food restrictions, no broken brackets, and no wire-poke emergencies. Easier hygiene and less self-consciousness at school.
A Real, Award-Winning Orthodontist
Dr. Dustin Coles is an award-winning, licensed orthodontist who personally reviews every child’s case — not a mail-order kit or an algorithm. The right oversight kids deserve.
Invisalign® vs. Braces for Kids
How Clear Aligners Compare to Metal Braces.
Both can move teeth effectively, and the right choice depends on your child’s case. For many kids who are candidates, here’s how Invisalign® First stacks up against traditional metal braces day to day.
| ⚡ Invisalign® First | Traditional Metal Braces | |
|---|---|---|
| Appearance | Clear & nearly invisible ✓ | Visible metal brackets & wires |
| Eating | Removable — no food restrictions ✓ | Many foods off-limits |
| Brushing & Flossing | Take out to clean normally ✓ | Harder to clean around brackets |
| Comfort | No brackets or wires to poke ✓ | Occasional poking & irritation |
| Emergencies | No broken-bracket visits ✓ | Broken wires/brackets need a visit |
| Office Visits | Fewer, with remote monitoring ✓ | Regular in-office adjustments |
| Wear Required | About 20–22 hrs/day — must stay in | Fixed on — always working |
* Not every child is a candidate for clear aligners, and results depend on consistent daily wear. A free scan determines what’s right for your child.

Is My Child a Candidate?
The Honest Answer: A Free Scan Tells Us.
Invisalign® First is designed for kids in the early-treatment window — generally ages 6–10, with a mix of baby and permanent teeth. But every child is different, and early treatment isn’t right for everyone. A free 3D scan lets Dr. Coles see what’s actually going on and give you a straight answer: whether to start now, wait and watch, or consider another option.
We’ll never push treatment your child doesn’t need. If the best move is to wait, we’ll tell you that.
Early treatment may be worth exploring if your child has:
- A mix of baby and permanent teeth (typically ages 6–10)
- Crowding or noticeable spacing as adult teeth come in
- A narrow dental arch that may need room created
- A dentist who suggested an orthodontic evaluation
Starting early can sometimes make later treatment simpler — though it doesn’t replace it in every case. Your scan will clarify what your child needs.

“With kids, the right timing and real oversight matter. I’d rather tell a parent honestly that we should wait and watch than start treatment a child doesn’t need yet. When it is the right time, we make it work around your family — fewer visits, hours that fit, and the same quality care.”

Parent Questions
Invisalign for Kids — Your Questions, Answered.
What age can a kid start Invisalign?
Invisalign® First is designed for children roughly ages 6–10 who still have a mix of baby and permanent teeth — the early-treatment (Phase 1) window. A free scan is the best way to know if it’s the right time for your child.
How much does Invisalign for kids cost?
Cost depends on your child’s specific treatment plan, so we give you a clear quote after the free scan — no surprise fees. We accept insurance, offer financing, are HSA/FSA eligible, and back it with a price match guarantee on any Invisalign® provider’s quote.
Does insurance or Medicaid cover Invisalign for kids?
Many dental and orthodontic insurance plans contribute toward treatment, and coverage for kids varies by plan. Medicaid orthodontic coverage is limited and case-specific. We’ll help you understand your benefits before you start so there are no surprises.
Is Invisalign safe and effective for kids?
Invisalign® First uses BPA-free aligners that apply gentle, gradual pressure, and treatment is overseen by a licensed orthodontist. As with any orthodontic treatment, results depend on the case and on wearing the aligners consistently — about 20–22 hours a day.
Is Invisalign better than braces for kids?
Neither is universally “better” — it depends on your child’s case. Many families prefer aligners because they’re clear, removable, and comfortable, with fewer office visits. For some kids, braces are still the better fit, and we’ll tell you honestly which makes sense.
My child needs jaw expansion — can Invisalign do that?
Invisalign® First is designed to address narrow arches using gradual dental arch expansion. When a child needs more expansion, Dr. Coles may recommend pairing it with the Invisalign® Palatal Expander System. Your scan will clarify what’s needed.
How do I track my child’s progress?
Most of treatment happens from home, and Dr. Coles monitors your child’s progress remotely between visits. You’ll know things are on track without constant trips to the office, and we bring you in when an in-person check matters.
What if my child loses or forgets to wear the aligners?
Consistent wear is the most important part of treatment, so it’s a real consideration for younger kids. We coach families on building the habit, and because we monitor progress, we can catch and address wear issues early. Replacement trays can be made if one is lost.
